Annette's Notes, Issue #022 -- Small Seeds

Small Seeds

I hope your New Year has gotten off to a great start! I am embracing 2017 with hope.

To be honest, 2016 was a difficult year for my family. I’m sure you’ve had years like that—where all you can do is keep putting one foot in front of the other, holding on to Jesus, and trusting He knows the way through. And He does.

When going through a difficult time, it sometimes seems we have little inspiration or energy for ministry, especially to children. God reminded me of something recently, and I thought I’d pass it on to you:

Keep planting small seeds.

There are times I want to argue with God: “I don’t have much right now. And what I do have is so very small.”

Then I see this beautiful tree, and God gently reminds me that it too sprang from something so very small (especially when compared to the current size of the tree!).

And this ear of corn has hundreds of sweet kernels,* all grown from one small seed.

These are the principles that have encouraged me:

1. Great things come from very small beginnings.

2. A small thing can multiply exponentially.

So...it’s a New Year. A new beginning. And if you have started off small, never fear:

“Do not despise these small beginnings,
for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin…”
Zechariah 4:10

My prayer:
Thank you, LORD, for carrying me and my family through 2016. I trust You with 2017. I trust that You will continue to bless the small seeds we are planting: seeds of faith, love, and perseverance. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

May God bless you and yours abundantly in this New Year!

Annette
